Islands.
Tenerife is the largest of the dramatic volcanic islands
that make up the Canaries – the Spanish Autonomous

Meet Our Team:
Vera
Liprandi
Lawyer & Office Director
Our multi-lingual team is headed by Vera
Liprandi, a dual qualified Spanish (Abogada) & Italian
(Avvocato) lawyer. Born in Turin, Italy,
Vera studied at the city’s prestigious University Faculty
of Law and then went on to take her Spanish Law Degree. This
was followed by a Masters in European Union & European
Communities.
This
impressive academic & legal
background is enhanced by genuine, in-depth experience
in commercial, property, land, conveyancing & timeshare
law as well as business and contract law in the Canaries, Spain & Italy.
Understandably,
with this background, Vera is a linguist, having commanded
4 additional languages (English, Spanish, French, and German)
to Italian, her mother tongue.
When unwinding, she practices Classic
and Contemporary Dance and enjoys cinema, theatre, music
and art.
Her legal team includes English and Spanish
lawyers and a dedicated support team.
Michael Rutter
English Solicitor
Michael Rutter is ideally equipped to deal with the specific legal needs of the
English speaking ex-pat. community living on the Canary Islands. His broad expertise
is enhanced with specialist skills in Family Law, Wills & Tax Mitigation.
Introduced
to Tenerife by friends over 6 years ago, the Island cast its spell on Michael
Rutter & his partner
Valerie as it has done on so many Brits.
The couple subsequently
bought a holiday home here, so they could return and enjoy the Island more often. Frequent
holidays have enabled Michael to become familiar with Tenerife,
its people and the culture.
Michael now lives full time on
the island and as one of the English Solicitors with De Cotta McKenna y Santafé.
Michael
qualified at The University of Northumbria. He went on to become Partner at Goodswens,
in Cleveland in the North East of England, where he built up a great deal of
expertise in a broad range of legal services.
With a strong background in economics
(BA in Business Studies) as well as Family Mediation (20 years as Council Member
of the Cleveland Family Mediation Service), Michael specialises
in English Family Law including divorce & separation
and the financial provision following family breakdown. He
is also a member of Resolution (formerly known as the Solicitors
Family Law Association).
In addition, his economic expertise
also benefits his specialism in the preparation of Wills
and tax mitigation.
When not practising law, Michael relaxes
with his partner on the Island, enjoying photography & music. He
looks forward also to becoming more involved with animal
welfare charities on the island.
Catherine
Waterson
Administration
Manager
Catherine comes from Norwich, UK and as Administrative Manager
keeps the busy Decotta Tenerife office running smoothly,
looking after client liaison & marketing administration.
With an educational background in both Psychology and Communication,
it comes as no surprise that Catherine really enjoys her
job meeting new clients each day and assisting them with
day to day issues, such as applying for residencias.
As the
Tenerife office continues to grow, so does Catherine’s
workload, but she always has energy and enthusiasm to spare.
In fact, she still finds time to decorate her new home on the
island and is enjoying making it her own.
Catherine speaks English, Spanish and is presently learning
German.
