Meet Our Team:
Reyes
Gómez Llorente
Abogado and Office Director
Reyes comes from Soria, a medieval city in Castilla y Leon,
north of Madrid. Having studied law with Universidad Nacional
de Educación a Distancia (UNED) until 1999, Reyes went
on to work for a major international law firm in Madrid for
a number of years, gaining significant experience in a number
of areas of law, including civil law.
After some months in the UK, she mastered her English,
the beauty and climate of Andalucia and the province of Malaga,
attracted Reyes back to Spain. Now director of De cotta’s
Nerja office, Reyes specialises in Family Law with both Spanish
and international perspectives; Conflicts of Jurisdictions
and the application of foreign law; civil law; as well as
enforcement of debts etc.
In her spare time, Reyes enjoys
a number of outdoor sports, reading and relaxing and socialising
with her friends.
Francisco
Javier Martín Martín
Spanish Abogado
Francisco studied law at the Universities of Malaga and Granada before gaining
valuable expertise in one of the region’s well known law firms.
He also
spent a year with a law firm in Exeter, in the UK, to gain a genuine insight
and understanding of English law.
With
De Cotta law, Francisco is based at our Nerja office and
specialises in Property & Urban Law; Criminal Law,
as well as Inheritance & Probate.
His expertise in Commercial
Law has led to his achievement of the title “Gestor
Administrativo” – Company
Administrator, for all legal aspects of commercial company
administration.
Known as Curro to his friends, Francisco enjoys
all types of out door sports in his spare time.
Rob
Westwater
English Solicitor & Abogado
Granada
Office Director
Rob attended Durham University and
York Law School. He completed his formal training with City
law firm Simmons & Simmons
and qualified as a solicitor in September 1997. In March
1999, Rob moved to leading international law firm Allen & Overy
in London. While working in London,
Rob specialised in corporate, banking, restructuring and
insolvency work.
Following a career break to travel around
the world in 2005, Rob decided to move to Spain and joined
De Cotta McKenna y Santafe in October 2006. Rob’s areas
of specialisation cover corporate work, commercial and private
property matters, wills and probate and non-resident tax
together with conflicts of law issues arising from the
cross- border nature of these areas.
Rob has recently opened
the new De Cotta McKenna y Santafé office
near Granada in the Lecrin Valley and
currently divides his time advising clients both there
and in our Nerja office.
Away from the office, Rob enjoys
golf and – being
based near Granada – skiing during the winter in
the Sierra Nevada.
Myles
Jackson
English Solicitor & Abogado
Myles Jackson, an Barrister-At-Law is our senior English
lawyer at the Nerja office. He was called to the Bar of England
And Wales in 1995, since when he has practiced as a barrister
from Chambers in London. He maintains a practicing certificate
for the Courts of England and Wales and is a door tenant with Thomas
More Chambers. He possesses experience and offers expertise
in the all areas of law as serviced by the firm.
Myles is also an Executive Committee Member of British
Spanish Law Association and registered with the British
Consulate in Malaga.
Myles and his partner (she is also in law, a qualified English solicitor) have
lived in Southern Spain for some years now and has recently relocated to Nerja;
where he looks forward to becoming an active member of this close-knit community.
In his spare time, Myles enjoys jazz, skiing and has started to play golf, although
he believes he will not be a threat to Tiger Woods or Sergio Garcia any time
soon!
Yolanda Carmona
Administration
Yolanda is the office’s translator
and assists clients at the notary, police station and at
court, and handles all external administration matters.
Naomi Diestro
Administration
Naomi is your first point of contact at reception and can
assist in the preparation of Spanish Wills and Powers of
Attorney.
Helene Gray
Administration
Helene assists the solicitors and lawyers, and deals with
aspects such as accounts and billing.
